Bleak House
Bleak House was the home of the Wheeler family in the early 20th century. The Wheeler family were builders and built the house . They also built the hotel alongside the railway and Henry Wheeler, the head of the family was also the station master. One of the pictures below shows the family outside Bleak House.
The railway station was used by many of the local farmers and livestock being herded down Oakle Street was not an uncommon sight.
