Lassington Court Farm

In the mid nineteenth century, Lassington Court Farm was 147 acres and owned by Sir John Wright Guise. The grandparents of Godwin Smith, of Astman’s Farm, bought Lassington Court in 1922 from the Guise family as a working farm. The Court Farm was split around wartime between Godwin’s Father and Godwin’s uncle. Astman’s went to Godwin’s father and The Court continued as a working farm with his uncle.

The Court farmhouse, familiar to many local residents, contains a dairy as well as living accommodation. This explains why there are no chimneys on one end of the house. Godwin Smith of Astman’s Farm always believed that there was an older Court with a tower on it. The existing Lassington Court is thought to be late Georgian or early Victorian.
