Discover Highnam Church – Holy Innocents

Highnam church, Holy Innocents, was founded by Thomas Gambier Parry in 1849, to commemorate his late wife Isabella. The dedication is a reference to their many children who died in infancy. Only one, the composer Hubert Parry, lived to adulthood.

The church is in the Decorated style, with the austerity of it’s exterior stone relieved by plentiful crockets and pinnacles. The interior features wall paintings, dominating the nave and painted by Parry himself.
